Bunk Reader

  1. Work closely with management team and nutritionist to maximize cattle performance, feed efficiencies and profitability

  2. Communicate yard issues to appropriate personnel - (cattle inventory/cattle condition/road maintenance/safety items)

  3. Ability to use the applicable software to ensure proper rations are loaded and fed to proper pens

  4. Monitor feed intakes/bunk condition/cattle behavior to the feed presentation

  5. Understanding of the variables in weather/gender/breed/etc. in feeding cattle

  6. Ensuring the newly received and re-implanted cattle are monitored closely and fed in timely fashion

  7. Accurately load trucks with correct ration

  8. Adequate verbal/written/mathematical skills

  9. Promptly notify appropriate personnel of any/all maintenance issues/breakdowns/concerns

  10. Follow equipment service and maintenance checklists

  11. Ensure compliance with all ISO/HACCP and OSHA/safety procedures, rules and regulations

  12. Prior feed truck driving experience

  13. Drivers license required

Feed Mill Manager

  1. Ensure all commodities are hauled to the mill for next days feeding

  2. Ensure routine preventative maintenance is scheduled and performed

  3. Ensure critical equipment replacements part are identified and on hand

  4. Operate processing equipment to achieve high quality control

  5. Ensure the daily mill housekeeping duties are completed

  6. Maintain the schedule for all mill employees

  7. Supervise all mill employees and set the tasks and priorities for the day

  8. Assist in budget development

  9. Ensure the mill department is operating efficiently and within budget

  10. Ensure compliance with all ISO/HACCP and OSHA/safety procedures, rules and regulations

  11. Consistent and accurate daily commodity samples

  12. Strong communication and math skills

Feeder/Feed Truck

  1. Operate payloaders and trucks, occasionally in adverse weather conditions

  2. Understand feed ingredients and bulk management

  3. Record feed audits

  4. Perform basic maintenance/changing oil and filters 

  5. Basic mechanical and aptitude skills

  6. Experience in driving feed truck as well as pay loader

  7. Accurately load trucks and deliver to proper pens

  8. Report / clean up / properly dispose of feed spills

  9. Drivers license required

  10. Ensure compliance with all ISO/HACCP and OSHA / safety procedures, rules and regulations

Ranch/Farmhand

  1. Daily feeding

  2. Counting and checking health of cattle

  3. Rounding up and processing cattle through the chutes

  4. Heat detection

  5. Tagging calves

  6. Night checking of calving heifers

  7. Newborn calf care

  8. Fence -  build/repair/maintenance

  9. Water source and tank repair

  10. Equipment maintenance

  11. Operate - skid steer/tractors/other equipment

  12. Brush and weed control

  13. Bi-lingual is a plus

Cattle Manager

  1. Manage other supervisors and all employees/provide overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the individuals

  2. Oversees, understands, models and trains employees the proper methods in low stress cattle handling

  3. Inspects all horses and tack, insuring they meet the standards of the company and safety

  4. Manage, lead and develop all new employees

  5. Develop department budget, manage expenses and supplies, studying historical data, anticipating needs and researching costs

  6. Write and provide routine reports and correspondence

  7. Perform basic math functions and calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, etc. Solve practical problems and deal with ever changing variables

  8. Understand the organization, strategic objectives and structure of Ownership

  9. Ability to interpret a variety of instruction furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form

  10. Monitor daily implementation of activities, projects, policies and procedures, recognize the errors and gaps keeping detailed and accurate records and promptly following through with corrections

  11. Understanding of the financial implications of the operating reports, cost analysis

  12. Assume the responsibility of necessary actions and/or resolution of challenges

  13. Evaluates personnel for job performance and bonus, as well as rewarding and coaching employees, addressing concerns and resolving challenges

  14. Ensure compliance with all ISO/HACCP and OSHA/safety procedures, rules and regulations

  15. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal and professional networks

Asst. Feed Yard Manager

  1. Assist the feed yard manager in all aspects of the cattle operation

  2. Oversee the daily care of cattle and facilities

  3. Assist and oversee all aspects of cattle movement - load, process, receive, sort

  4. Manage feed bunks as needed

  5. Ride pens as needed

  6. Operate equipment as needed

  7. Accurately manage inventory, run feed, medicine and operate yard computer programs

  8. Ensure compliance with all ISO/HACCP and OSHA/safety procedures, rules and regulations

  9. Bi-lingual is a plus

  10. Responsibilities and duties will vary, greater details will be provided by each specific employer

Feed Yard Manager

  1. Oversight of daily operations

  2. Will work closely with Operations Mgr, Office Mgr, Asst. Mgr. Human Resources

  3. The primary contact with the consulting veterinarian and nutritionist and is responsible for implementing their recommendations

  4. Provide the employees with clear direction on the priorities of the day and provide leadership and support to accomplish those priorities

  5. Prepare, moniotor and approve the budgetand participate in the company's budget meetings

  6. Supervise all incoming and outgoing cattle

  7. Maintain and produce the proper and appropriate paperwork - shipper/brand/health

  8. Supervise the doctors and oversee the treatment and treatment entry into the Doctor logs

  9. Oversee all pen and pen rider activity

  10. Ensure compliance with all ISO/HACCP and OSHA/safety procedures, rules and regulations

  11. Work with HR on employee hirings and terminations

  12. Oversee and assist on month ending inventories

  13. Bi-lingual is a plus

  14. Train and develop employees in their daily tasks so they can provide quality work, continually look for opportunities to improve the work process and efficiencies of the company

Doctor / Hospital

  1. Observe, pull and treat cattle daily

  2. Monitor treated cattle

  3. Identify railers / non performing cattle and track to computer program

  4. Perform necropsies and determine cause if death on mortality cases and document

  5. Removal of dead and track to computer program

  6. Management of pharmaceutical inventory and equipment

  7. Maintain a clean and functioning doctoring facility

  8. Calculate simple dosages based on animals weight

  9. Handle and restrain cattle in enclosed area using squeeze chutes

  10. Manage cattle that do not respond to treatment and determine when clear of vaccine can go to rail

  11. Manage data regarding breeding and followup pregnancy checks

  12. Maintain a hospital roster and document into the computer

  13. Bi-lingual is a plus
